I just tested:

- open XP SP3 virtual machine
- download windows app
- open
- play a bit, save

everything works fine for me. 

Can you provide more information about the state of your system?
(antivirus could be a problem, RO of the files too), whatever... essentially I cannot reproduce your case :)
