Read the chapter there is an install on ma section
:)

oh.. so you added it.

yes and I added a lot more from the original version you read :)

because i don't remember seeing it before (and my attention was focused on other parts)

!!! To install X11 on Mac
If you are on Mac OSX you can try one of the following way to install X11. Based on our experience, the last one seems more reliable.
[[[
sudo port install xorg-libX11
sudo port -v install xorg-server
]]]

Once install open a new shell and type ==xeye&== you should get the famous eye application looking at you.

Oh, do not forget to save your image quite often, a crash can easily occur if we make some mistake on this field!

Thank you Stef for this chapter very much it really opened my eyes to a new potential.

X11 is no longer included in MacOS -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5293

Thats the bad news

The good news is that libraries like GTK which was the big reason to use X11 on macos like GIMP now use the Quartz backend of X11. Quartz allow you to have native look GUI on macos.
So now all GTK apps can feel native on MACOS.

by L. Laffont this summer. Now you this is up to you to expand your knowledge :) It was really fun to get the X11 window resize and move :)

Enjoy.

Hehe, even i learned something today, that actually you can play with X11 even on Mac, because it has X11 support installed out of the box.
(Btw, Stef you probably should mention that in chapter, especially details if you need to install something extra or not).
