SCRIPT_DIR=`readlink "$0"` || SCRIPT_DIR="$0";
to read
SCRIPT_DIR=`readlink "$0" >/dev/null` || SCRIPT_DIR="$0";

1.4 and 2.0 worked out of the box… and after my latest integration, 3.0 should work too. 
I will take a look as soon as I have half and hour to spare.
